5 GALLON BREW = 23LTRS WATER

EBU = BITTERNESS X VOLUME

ALPHA ACID X 2

Example 20 Bitterness x 23 volume = 460

Alpha Acid of hops 3.2 x 2 = 6.4

460 divided by 6.4 = 71.875 = 72gms of hops

ABV – START GRAVITY – FINISH GRAVITY

Example Start gravity 1040

Finish Gravity 1010

1040 - 1010 = 30

30 divided by 7.36 = an ABV of 4%

WATER TEMPERATURE FOR MASH = 76˚ TO 78˚

STRIKE TEMPERATURE FOR MASH = 66˚

WATER TEMPERATURE FOR SPARGE = 78˚

ROLLING BOIL = 1 ½ HOURS

COOL BEER TO 20˚ THEN PITCH YEAST

PREFFERED START GRAVITY = 1040

PREFFERED FINISH GRAVITY 1010
